Bossfilm have been making a ‘sort of’ documentary of the Threshold Festival 2011 at CUC in Liverpool, and they are aiming to screen it this month!

If you were there at the Threshold Festival: come and relive the magic! If you were not there: come and experience the next best thing!

Its screening as part of the regular short film night at CUC called Prime Cuts, so the night will also feature other short films submitted by local filmmakers. The night has been going for a few months now – and it really is a cracking little night with a great atmosphere.

Its on Wednesday 29th June from 19:00 – 22:00. Its in the cinema at CUC Liverpool (41 Greenland Street, L1 0BS Liverpool), but folks usually meet in the bar on the ground floor (The Beer House) for a drink beforehand and then wander up. Entry fee is a voluntary donation (suggested as about £3).

There’s an exciting new film night in St. Helens called Projector, a monthly event, culminating in the first ever St. Helens International Film Festival in July. The night takes place at the Mash Gallery, Haydock Street, St. Helens (www.mashgallery.co.uk).

The next one is on 16th May from 8PM. Entry is free.

There will be another screening of ‘The Digital Gaze’ (http://vimeo.com/22678567) from friends of Canvas Bossfilm and plenty of other shorts showing too – and it looks like a great space – so should be a good night.

Just to let you know that Bossfilm have got another screening of Holmewood coming up as part of a bumper films program at an exciting new Liverpool festival.

Its on as part of the Threshold Festival at the Contemporary Urban Centre (CUC) – which is down Baltic way – Off Jamaica St.

The festival runs from 11th to 13th Feb (next weekend) and Holmewood will be screened on Saturday 12th in the afternoon/evening in the cinema. The ‘shorts’ loop kicks off at 5pm. We’re first on the list – so I assume Holmewood is first on the bill. If you can get down for 5pm that might be your best bet to catch it, but as its a loop there will likely be a few screenings between 5-12.

I’m not sure how many other films are being screened – or what they are going to be – but there are showings from: Renaissance, Serenity Pictures, Max Zadow, Violet City Teaser, ForgeMastersFilms, Reverse The Wave (some of whom I know, some I don’t) but for fans of the local film scene – I’m sure there’ll be plenty of fun to be had – including on Sunday at 19.30 a Liverpool KINO Cabaret Screening – described as “The movie shot and edited on the premises during Threshold Festival” – deffo one not to miss!!

There will be a screening of CANVAS regulars Bossfilm’s ghost story ‘Holmewood’ at the Plaza Cinema in Crosby on Thursday 2nd December 2010 from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. There will be drinks beforehand and a chat afterwards with the film starting at 6.00pm.

The screening has been arranged by one of the stars of the film, Les, as a fundraiser for the theatre group he’s a part of – the Alsopdrama group.

Tickets cost £3.50 (bargain!) and can be bought at the cinema box office in person (no phone or internet booking alas).  You should be able to get tickets on the night, but swing by early to avoid disappointment (or pop down in the week before to be on the safe side).

About the Film

‘Holmewood’ is a Bossfilm production from 2009 – directed by Jonathan Hall and co-written by David Hering and Richard Hughes.  The film is an M.R. James inspired ghost story staring Joe Johnson as a young man who returns to the family home to settle the estate of his parents. The film features Les James, Sam Jones, David Hering and Dan O’Toole in supporting roles and music by Louis Johnson.

Certificate 15, B&W, Running time 55 mins.

About the Cinema

The Plaza Cinema in Crosby is a beautiful community cinema which has been there since the 1940s!  Its only 20 mins or so by car from Liverpool centre, or 15 mins on the train from Central station to Waterloo, then a 5 min walk from the station to the theatre.

Liverpool Kino Short Film Night
